Designer's note

Trace was born from the discovery of the geological plates that George Maw published in 1868 to study the arrangement of iron in strata of different colors. In them, the movement of minerals within sandstones, marls, and shales formed spots, bands, and small dots that, seen today, appear almost abstract.

In the work, the garnet and eggplant background recalls a surface stained by iron oxides. The bluish areas, the yellow accents, and the small dark dots appear as traces of mineral concentration and displacement. The crosses and lines introduce the gesture of the annotations that accompanied those ancient scientific plates.
